Our Skin

Our skin requires a few different components to stay firm and wrinkle free, including collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. We typically refer to collagen as being a major contributor to healthy looking skin. Elastin then works with collagen to provide skin that snaps, or firmness helping it retain its shape. Hyaluronic acid is what traps water in the skin keeping it hydrated and fresh looking. Hydration also adds fullness or volume to the skin. Unfortunately, as we age, the body slows in the production of these substances. The results are increasingly drier looking skin and the development of sagging and wrinkles.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers provide the decreased substances that our skin is lacking, namely collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Treatment includes the directed placement of these substances to specific areas of the face to improve hydration and eliminate the appearance of lines while tightening areas of sagging.
